Introduction
To schedule Skedler-Alerts, you need to configure the email server settings. This article will help you to configure email settings, time zone settings and configure default logo for your reports.
Pre-requisites
- A successful installation of Skedler-Alerts is required. Refer to Step-by-Step Skedler-Alerts Installation Guide for Linux to install.
Step-by-Step Instruction
Basic Setup:
On Skedler Alerts main page, click Settings icon to access Basic and Advanced settings.
Timezone Details:
1. Click Edit icon to change the default time zone.
2. Enter the time zone to be used for scheduling the alerts in the Time zone field.
3. Click Save to save the time zone settings for the scheduled alert.
Email Notification:
1. Set the Email Setting field to:
On: If you want to email distribution of alerts
Off: if you do not want to email the alerts. The alerts will be generated and stored in the server alerts folder.
2. Click Edit icon to updated Email settings.
3. By default Supported Service is set to Others. Choose one of the following email services.
- If you use a standard SMTP server, choose Others.
- Enter the outgoing email server in the Outgoing Server field.
- Enter the Port for the email server
- Enable Use SSL toggle button to use SSL to connect to the email server.
- Enter the email id of the sender in the Sender’s Email field (this is the email id from which all the alerts are sent) to configure the outgoing mail settings.
- Enable Password using toggle button if the SMTP server has authentication.
- Enter the password in the Password field.
- Click Save to save the configuration.
- If you use Gmail, choose Gmail
- Enter the email id of the sender in the Sender’s Email ID field (this is the email id from which all the alerts are sent) to configure the outgoing mail settings.
- Enter the password in the Password field.
- Click Save to save the configuration.
- If you use Amazon SES, choose SES, SES-US-EAST-1, SES-US-WEST-1 or SES-US-WEST-2
- Enter the email id of the sender in the Sender’s Email ID field (this is the email id from which all the alerts are sent) to configure the outgoing mail settings
- Enter the username in the Username field.
- Enter the password in the Password field.
- Click Save to save the configuration.
Webhook Notification:
Add webhook URL in webhook settings in which you can send the alert notification via webhook. Skedler – Alerts provides webhook with 3 types of authentication
- Authentication – None
- Basic Authentication with base64 encoded
- OAuth 1.0 Authentication
Click Add Webhook to add the Webhook URL as shown below,
1.Authentication – None
Select type as None give required fields like Alias, Webhook URL, Webhook method, Custom Headers and click the Save button.
Note: With Custom Header you can send authentication header and content-type based on your Webhook request configuration
To test the Webhook URL, provide the parameters with value and click Test URL button. You will receive a successful response if the parameters have been configured properly.
2.OAuth 1.0 Authentication
Select type as OAuth 1.0 and give required fields like Alias, Webhook URL, Webhook method, Custom Headers, client id, client secret key, user token key, user secret key, request token URL, access token URL and click the Save button to add the webhook URL with OAuth 1.0 Authentication
3.Basic Authentication with base64 encoded
Select type as Basic and give required fields like Alias, Webhook URL, Webhook method, Custom Headers, username and password fields for the basic webhook authentication URL. All the webhook URL with basic authentication are base64 encoded. Click the Save button to add the webhook URL with Basic Authentication
Advanced Setup:
The advanced setup options are accessible by clicking on Configuration icon on Skedler Alerts home page and then select the Advanced tab.
Proxy Details
If the Internet connection requires a proxy server set the Proxy Settings details.
1. Click Edit icon to update Proxy Details settings
2. Select the Proxy Type. By default, No Proxy is selected.
3. If the Proxy Type is Automatic Proxy then it takes the system configured proxy.
4. If the Proxy Type is Manual Proxy, specify the protocol, server name or proxy IP, and port. If the proxy setting requires user authentication, enter the username and password in the User Name and Password fields.
5. Click Save button.
Index Pattern Setup:
On Skedler Alerts main page, click Index Pattern icon to configure indices.
In order to use Skedler Alerts, you must configure at least one index pattern.
- Index Pattern (OR) Name – Index patterns are used to identify the Elasticsearch index for schedule alerts
- Refresh – Refresh field list for the given Index Pattern (or) Name
- Refresh Indices By Schedule – Selecting the Refresh Indices By Schedule checkbox option will allow you to refresh field list of Index Pattern (or) Name frequently
- Set up the schedule for the index pattern by selecting the Frequency Type as “Hourly”, “Daily”, “Weekly”, “Monthly”, or “Yearly”
- Enter the scheduled frequency time in the Schedule Frequency Time section to schedule for the refreshing indices field values.
- Enter the start time to refresh the index pattern field list from the Start Time field
- Last Updated On – Displays the date & time when the index pattern field list has been updated
