Connecting a SAML enabled Grafana instance with Skedler

Modified on Wed, 13 Oct, 2021 at 4:29 PM

In this section, we will go through the steps for connecting a SAML enabled Grafana instance to Skedler. This solution is not just limited to SAML authentication, we can use the same solution for other advanced authentication options like OAuth, LDAP, etc. provided by Grafana.

If your Grafana instance is configured using any of the above-mentioned authentication options, you need to choose the API key authentication option provided by Skedler when you save the data source and enter a Grafana API Key.

Don't have a Grafana API key?

We use an API key to access Grafana programmatically. To create an API key in Grafana follow the below instructions:

(Note: Only admin users can create API keys, so your Grafana username must have an Admin role)

  1. Log into your Grafana.
  2. In the side navigation bar, click on the configuration icon and choose the API keys option in it.
  3. Now, click on add API key.
  4. You need to name your key and give it admin role access.
  5. You should now see a pop-up with an API key. Copy the API key, it will be displayed only once.

Now that you have an API key, you can use the same to connect Skedler to your Grafana instance.
